Mae deadlines ymweliad o Grünstadt / ymweliad o Gymru wedi bod yn handi ar hyd y blynyddoedd. Gyda'r bygythiad "Mae Ulli ar y ffordd ..." rydw i wedi llwyddo i gael drws ar y bathrwm, ty bach a sinc sy'n gweithio, tra bo Ulli wedi llwyddo i gael band llydan di-wifr wythnos diwetha, jyst mewn pryd i'r blogio a'r podledu! Y cam nesaf i fi yw'r ardd, felly rydyn ni wedi dechrau o ddifrif ar yr ymgyrch heddiw gyda'n hymweliad â Gwyl Gerddi yn Bellheim. Diolch byth fod bws gyda ni i ddod adref!

Today, I visited Bellheim's Garden Festival with Ulli (my exchange partner!) and Markus (her husband).
The sun was boiling ...

While we were there, we decided to continue with our conspiracy against our husbands. It's quite handy to take part in a school exchange because it helps to "get things done"!
An annual Ulli / Ceri deadline is useful. I have managed to get a door for the bathroom, a working toilet and sink, and Ulli has managed to get wireless broadband out of this year's deadline, using my blogging as the perfect excuse.
This year's target ... my garden ...
Decision #1 - big plants - not a good idea. Bulbs would be the way forward ... Five bags later ...

The assorted bulbs will grow into nice pink things ...

... lovely purple pom poms ...

... big yellow things (2m high ...)

... not quite so big white things (1.5m high)

and classy black things ... (similar to pink things)

For being such good customers we were rewarded with a purple pom pom each ...

We then gave up on flowers and moved on to metal things ...
I bought a nice heart ...

... and we each bought a bowl. I meant to buy a smaller one, but Markus decided
that a small one was pointless. As I had a bus at my disposal (sorry Dave the bus driver),
I went for the big one, and Ulli bought one to match.

Now, things could have been MUCH worse ...
We could have bought a horse ...

... or some garish yellow chicks (you thought gnomes were bad ...)

But no, just some bulbs and some simple, minimalistic, classy metalware!
Back at home we put our pom poms in a vase ...

... and were joined by Heike and Herr Mason to do the matching for next year. After three hours we were done, and every YGBM pupil for next year now has a German exchange partner. We hope that everyone will be as happy as this year's exchange pupils. We will distribute the profiles after we get home next week.

Heidelberg tomorrow ...
No-one has phoned ... it appears that everyone is enjoying with the families.
Hwyl!

Are you sure it wasn't a unicorn? If so it was probably very valuble. You missed a trick there girls. Clearly comment not from Oli himself!!

I'm sure purple pom poms, pink things, large white things and funny black things will work well with the lovely weeds we have in our garden but I am glad that the horse is going to remain in Germany!
